Oh Coffee Bean (Western Terror) took his 12th victory of 2023 on Wednesday (Nov. 15) as he wired the harness racing field at Flamboro Downs again.

Travis Henry ordered the gelding forward for the sixth straight week and got him to the engine in a :28.1 first panel. He enjoyed an easy lead to the half in :58.3, but Control The Smile (Travis Cullen) brought him a first-over challenge as they came down the backstretch.

Oh Coffee Bean had a length on the advancing foe at three-quarters in 1:27.2 and added to his margin on the final turn. Control The Smile remained within two lengths into the stretch, and previously gapped pocket-sitter Wizard Of Bodz (J. Bradley Harris) looked to close at the rail, but neither could catch Oh Coffee Bean. The racelong leader completed his victory with a margin of a length-and-a-half and a clocking of 1:57.

Wizard Of Bodz was second, followed by Fiscal Policy (Michael Horner).

OH COFFEE BEAN REPLAY

Oh Coffee Bean has now won five of his past six starts and 12 in 23 this season with earnings of $37,398.  After two fruitless starts at two, he raced in Nova Scotia to start 2023 before moving to Ontario and trainer Isaac Waxman in June. Waxman conditions the sophomore colt for owners Tess Waxman of Ridgeville, Carmelo Scime of Caledonia, and Jeff Jordan of Windsor.

Also on the card, Happy Neighs (Sportswriter) broke his maiden in his 19th lifetime attempt. The colt completed a brush to the front at three-quarters and battled to a one-length victory in 1:58.4. It was Jason Woodward’s second driving win of the year. He trains the three-year-old for R D Cigar Stable of Bowmanville.

HAPPY NEIGHS REPLAY

Flamboro Downs’s next card on Thursday, Nov. 16 will feature a Fillies and Mares Preferred. First post is set for 6:35 p.m. EST.
