The Moma Dance (Ponder) and harness racing driver Chris Long captured the $7,500 featured fillies and mares’ pace over a sloppy, rain-soaked track at Vernon Downs on Friday (November 17).

The Hunt Is On (Dylan Huckabone-Miller) led to the quarter in :27.2.  So Amazing (Steeven Genois) came first-up heading to the backstretch and battled for the lead.  The Hunt Is On was first to the half in :57.3.  Milliniums Girl (Barton Dalious) came flying first-up and took over the lead heading around the final turn and led to three-quarters in 1:26.2.

The Moma Dance ($17.20) made her move as they made the turn for home.  She came flying down the stretch and won easily in 1:55.3.  Milliniums Girl had to settle for second.  Unusual Clarity (Ron Harp) finished third.

The Moma Dance is a 4-year-old mare trained by Paul Minckler for owners Edmund Namiotka Jr., and Carol Namiotka.  It was her fourth win this season.  She now has six career victories.

THE MOMA DANCE REPLAY

Artie Dick, Dylan Huckabone-Miller, John MacDonald, and Chris Long all had driving doubles.

Live racing returns to Vernon Downs on closing night Saturday (November 18) with an 11-race card starting at 6:05 p.m.
