Daisy Corvette motors to fifth straight score

Daisy Corvette (Mystician) revved up for her fifth consecutive harness racing victory in a last-to-first performance in the Fillies and Mares Preferred at Century Mile on Friday (Nov. 17).

The four-year-old found herself at the back in the first quarter, which went in :27.3, and driver Mike Hennessy pulled her off the pylons nearing the half in :56.1 to latch onto the cover of favourite Stash The Cookies (Brandon Campbell).

Stash The Cookies carried her forward a long way, with the latter reaching the lead at three-quarters in 1:24.2. Daisy Corvette lurked two lengths behind in third and fanned out for the drive as they came off the bend. Stash The Cookies held a one-length lead down the lane, but Daisy Corvette hit another gear to run her down and win going away in 1:53.2.

Sunshineatthebeach (Jamie Grey) closed from third-over to pip Stash The Cookies for place.

DAISY CORVETTE REPLAY

It was Daisy Corvette’s 11th career victory in 38 tries, and reached the six-digit earnings milestone in the win. The four-year-old is undefeated for new connections – trainer Shanisty Andres has brought her five straight wins with the last two in the Preferred ranks for owner Tammy Murschell of Medicine Hat.

Century Mile will be back with racing on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 6:15 p.m. MST.
