Quality harness racing pacer Tact McLeod (Sweet Lou) is on the comeback and should be back at the races in the next couple of weeks.
The four year old qualified by five lengths in December 2022 before winning his debut by five and a quarter lengths at the Wairio meeting in January 2023. He won at Addington two weeks later before finishing his early season campaign with a second and a third. Since then the horse has had a virus which trainer Trevor Proctor has let run its course without any medication.
āItās taken a while. Weāre just working 3-20 and his heart drops down to 52 in ten minutes so his heartās good. He gives you a good feel,ā he said.
Although Tact McLeod has missed all the top end racing over Cup Week, Proctor isnāt too worried as there are still some good stake races locally in the next few months.
āWe wouldnāt mind having a go at the Invercargill Cup. Heās probably not eligible but I wouldnāt be frightened to do it.ā
Proctorās only runner in the Invercargill Cup was Tact Lizzie (Christian Cullen) which finished eleventh in the 2011 edition won by Highview Tommy (Bettorās Delight).
Tact McLeod is out of the Albert Albert mare Tact Hayley Jane whoās also the dam of Tact Hayley Delight (Bettorās Delight) the winner of sixteen and Tact Tama (Christian Cullen) who won all five of his starts.
