Twin B Joe Fresh (Roll With Joe) became the first harness racing filly to ever beat the older mares in the $175,000 FanDuel Championship for pacing fillies and mares Saturday (Nov. 25) at The Meadowlands.
The 4th race got underway with Mikala (George Brennan) out pacing Racine Bell (Tim Tetrick) to the early lead with race favorite Twin B Joe Fresh and driver Dexter Dunn getting away in third place.
The short field raced single file through the first quarter in :27.3 and the half mile in :56.1. Heading the to the three-quarters was when Dunn came first-over with Twin Be Joe Fresh and Max Contract (Andy Miller) following second-over. They passed the three-quarters in 1:25.
Coming off the final turn, Twin Be Joe Fresh, still with her plugs in her ears and parked first-over, tore away from the field in the stretch with an amazing :25 second last quarter mile to win with ease by two and one-quarter lengths in 1:50.2. Boudoir Hanover (Todd McCarthy) closed well to be second with Max Contract third.
TWIN B JOE FRESH REPLAY
It was the second straight win and eleventh victory of the year in seventeen starts for Twin B Joe Fresh. The three-year-old filly is trained and co-owned by Chris Ryder with Dexter Dunn, Peter Trebotica and Barry Spak. She paid $3.80 to win.
āShe (Twin B Joe Fresh) has a good brush in her,ā Said Dexter Dunn, āItās kinda her move coming first-over on the last turn. And she is so quick up the straights. I was worried, of course, with Max Contract on my back and she has been in great form. If we get run down, we get run down, I had to give her a shot.ā
Chris Ryder also confirmed that Twin B Joe Fresh will return to race at age 4.
