Emmetts Buddy (In The Irons) flew late to take the $36,000 Preferred in a tight harness racing finish on a foggy Saturday night (Dec. 2) at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
Tyler Borth slid him into the four-hole after leaving hard while Cold Creek Queso (Jody Jamieson) went forward to take point at the quarter in :26.2. The field traveled to the half in :56.3, and Points North (Sylvain Filion) pulled the trigger from third approaching the final turn.
He moved into striking range as they hit three-quarters in 1:25.1 with Emmetts Buddy locked away fifth. Points North and Cold Creek Queso battled away down the stretch while Emmetts Buddy powered up on the outside and closed with Livinthebeachlife (Louis-Philippe Roy). That pair flew on either side of the leaders, and Emmetts Buddy won the race to the line in 1:52.3.
Livinthebeachlife was second as he closed at the pylons. Cold Creek Queso was third by a half-length.
