Monticello, NY— The 1-5 favorite Nancy Bar (Bar Hopping, Michael Merton) won the $6,500 harness racing Open trot at Monticello Raceway on Wednesday afternoon (Dec. 6).
K J Kyra (Jim Taggart Jr) went for the early lead but was quickly passed by Nancy Bar from the outside. As they approached the first quarter mile in :28.4, Doo Wop Kid (Alan Schwartz) was moving to the front from the outside to challenge Nancy Bar for the lead, leaving K J Kyra in third.
They completed the half mile in :58.3, with Nancy Bar on top, leaving Doo Wop Kid and K J Kyra to battle for second. As they arrived at the three-quarter mile mark in 1:28.3, Nancy Bar was holding on to the lead. Hot Summer Knight (Joseph Chindano Jr) had moved into second, and K J Kyra was racing in third.
Nancy Bar crossed the wire in 1:58.2, two lengths ahead of K J Kyra. Hot Summer Knight finished in third.

Nancy Bar is a 5-year-old mare owned by Mrs Stephanie Olsen and trained by Rob Harmon. She paid $2.40 to win.
Bruce Aldrich Jr and Michael Merton had driving doubles. Daniel Gill and Rob Harmon had training doubles.
