It may have taken more than a year to conclude the findings, but the end result is that harness racing trainer Andy Shetler, having already served a 90-day suspension, has been tacked on with an additional 400-day suspension and a $3,000 fine by the Indiana Racing Commission.

Back in June 2022, Shetler was discovered on video injecting horses with hypodermic needles multiple times on association grounds at Harrah’s Hoosier Park. He was also found to have procession of hypodermic needles, syringes and injectable drugs. It was not known yet if the additional fine and suspension has been appealed.

Also, after two years of deliberation, trainer Jamal Williams was fined $1,000 and suspended for 180 days by the Indiana Racing Commission for oral administration of substances to three different horses at Harrah’s Hooser Park on December 2, 2021.

There were also numerous positive test results reported by Racing Commissions to the USTA.

Positive tests were found for Albuterol, Aninocaproic Acid, Capsaicin, Firocoxib, Furosemide, Glycopyrrolate, Hydroxydantrolene, Levamisole, Methamphetamine, Methocarbamol and TCO2.

Fines ranged as high as $1,000 and suspensions as long as 60 days.
