Louis-Philippe Roy began a five-win night on Friday (Dec. 8) at Woodbine Mohawk Park with a comfortable harness racing win behind Alabama Hannah (Huntsville) in the opener of the Niagara Series for three-year-old pacing fillies.

Alabama Hannah winning the Niagara Series first division

Alabama Hannah was never headed after taking over from post eight, drawing off down the stretch to a two-and-three-quarter-length victory in 1:52.4. Occasionally Sharp (Jody Jamieson) got past Voom Voom (Bob McClure) for second.

ALABAMA HANNAH REPLAY

It was the fourth win of the season for Alabama Hannah, who raced in New York and New Jersey from her 2022 debut until July. The filly, trained by Meg Crone, returned from a four-month absence in November. Jeffrey Nanna of Utica owns the three-year-old.

Roy’s other winners on the night were Meadowbranch Noble (Explosive Matter, 1:56.1), Shes Got It All (Bettors Delight, 1:53), Mercutio (Bar Hopping, 1:55.2), and Avas Angel Baby (Sunshine Beach, 1:56).

Ladyterra (Sweet Lou, Tyler Borth) took the other Niagara Series division. She worked to the lead in the first quarter and extended the gap as she came home a winner in 1:53.3. Angostura Hanover surged from sixth to beat out Oh Gouda (Brett MacDonald) for place.

LADYTERRA REPLAY

Ladyterra is now six-for-20 in her debut season with $70,313 in earnings. She moved to Ontario for new owner Karen Carroll of Shedden in November. Zachary Carroll conditions the three-year-old.

The next leg of the Niagara Series is set for Dec. 15. The $30,000 will go forward on Dec. 26.

Woodbine Mohawk Park will close out its race week on Saturday, Dec. 9 with an 11-race program featuring the first Valedictory Series leg. First post is set for 7:10 p.m. EST.
