Bordeaux S wins Grand Prix de Noel at Cagnes sur Mer

The 1.5/1 odds favorite Bordeaux S (7g Orlando Vici-Spot Over) rallied to victory today at Cagnes sur Mer in the Grand Prix de Noel (purse 80,000€, Gr. III for European 6-10 year olds racing 2925 meters) as their winter meet begins.

This Jean Michel Bazire trainee was handed by Christophe Martens for Global Glide AB. This was the winner’s seven win in 28 starts in FR and he now sports earnings or 383,894€. Race time was 1.13.7kr.  The 10/1 Gimy du Pommereux (7f Coktail Jet-Noune du Pommereux) was second for driver J.Ch. Sorel and trainer David Cinier. Third home was the 1.9/1 odds Horchestro (6g Sam Bourbon) with David Bekaert at the lines a length back.

Yesterday in Italy at Albenga the 83-year-old legendary horseman Jean Pierre Dubois won his second straight with 2.6/1 Figurati (2f Tactical Landing-Tast Of Bourbon-Donato Hanover) timed in 1.17.4kr. The JPD team bested 4.7/1 Freia SL (2f Maharajah) with Mass Castaldo driving and the third finishing 2.8/1 Fornarina (2f Ringostarr Treb) with Andrea Guzzinati aboard.

On the European breeding front the veteran Alrajah One arrived to his 2024 station after a racing program in North America with Ake Svanstedt. His two-year station there was successful despite injury.

The former Yonkers Internaational winner Cokstile is back training in Italy and aiming for an America’s Prize spot.
