Flemsteen (Explosive Matter, Trevor Smith) won the $25,000 Open harness racing trot at Hollywood Gaming Dayton Raceway on Saturday (Dec. 23).
I Know My Chip (Brett Miller) took the early lead, followed by Flemsteen in second and Adamsville Road (Sam Widger) in third. As they passed the first quarter mile in :26.4, I Know My Chip led the way, with Adamsville Road following in second and Flemsteen racing in third.
From the outside, Late Nite Hawk (Kayne Kauffman) rushed to the front to steal the lead. As they passed the half mile in :56.1, Platinum As (Tony Hall) was first-over and in a battle with I Know My Chip for second.
As they reached the half mile in 1:24.3, Platinum As led the way, a nose ahead of Late Nite Hawk. I Know My Chip and Majestic Player A (Josh Sutton) battled for third.
As they came to the top of the stretch, I Know My Chip led the way, but Flemsteen rushed up from the far outside to cross the wire first in 1:54, a head in front of Majestic Player A. Platinum As finished in third.

Flemsteen is a 5-year-old gelding trained by Christopher Beaver for owners Christopher Beaver, Bill Manes, and R.B.H. Ventures Inc. He paid $5.20 to win.
