Low Rider (Downbytheseaside), one of two three-year-olds competing against older horses, scored a ten-length romp in capturing the $17,000 feature harness racing pace Wednesday (Dec. 27) at Dayton Raceway.
The 8th race saw Whiskeyontherocks (Cameron McCown) leave from post nine and take early command of the race with Jlās Cruisecontrol (Luke Hanners) sitting the pocket trip and race favorite Low Rider and driver Brett Miller third on the wood. The quarter went in :27.
Jlās Cruisecontrol and Hanners quarter moved to the front and led the field to the half mile marker in :56.2. Then in the backstretch Miller came first-over with Low Rider and they took over the lead on the outside at the three-quarters in 1:23.1.
Once on top, Low Rider kicked in another gear as he was leading by five lengths at the top of the stretch and then pulled away even more to win by ten in 1:51.3. Coach Cutsinger (Chris Page), the other three-year-old, was second d with Rock The Dragon (Tyler Smith) third.
LOW RIDER REPLAY
It was the third straight win and seventh victory of the season for Low Rider. The sophomore gelding is trained by Michael Hitchcock for the H & Stable and paid $4.00 to win.
