Grove City, Ohio – Seaside Diva (Downbytheseaside) overcame a catastrophic mid-year injury and returned to the harness racing track on her way to being named the 2023 Ohio 2-Year-Old Pacing Filly of the Year.
Trainer Ron Burke said she was injured while out in the field. “It was a hard year for her. She was cut after being caught in a fence and it changed her whole year,” said Burke. “The fact that she came back and made the Sires Stakes final is a testament to her and the people who took care of her.”
Seaside Diva finished the year hitting the board in eight of 11 races with four wins, three second-place finishes, and a third-place finish. She earned $239,805 in 2023.
Seaside Diva will be honored at the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association Annual Awards Banquet on January 13, 2024, at the Mariott Columbus OSU in Columbus, Ohio. Tickets to the banquet are $30 each and can be purchased by calling the OHHA office at 614-221-3650.
The 2023 Ohio Horse of the Year will be announced at the annual awards banquet.
