The following are a series of letters to New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy concerning the bute positives received by numerous harness racing trainers from the New Jersey Racing Commission.
Dear Governor Phil Murphy,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to bring your attention a matter of significant concern regarding the recent decision by the New Jersey Racing Commission.
In the past few days, the commission upheld a perplexing overturn related to positive tests for Phenylbutazone, despite the rulebook clearly stipulating a 24-hour withdrawal time.
The decision appears to be an egregious abuse of power, particularly by Mrs Judy Nason, the head of the New Jersey Racing Commission. It is disheartening to witness what seems to be a violation of both New Jersey’s constitutional law and the broader laws of the United States of America.
Such actions not only undermine the integrity of the New Jersey Racing Commission, but also raise serious questions about the adherence to established rules and regulations. This situation is not only regrettable but also, I believe, unconstitutional.
I kindly urge you to look into this matter and ensure that the principles of justice, fairness, and the rule of law are upheld within your state. Your intervention is crucial to rectifying what appears to be a breach of trust and a failure to uphold the standards that the great state of New Jersey stands for.
Sincerely,
Daniel Taylor
