Harness racing driver Tyler Borth completed his Wednesday (Jan. 10) outing at The Raceway at the Western Fair District with four straight wins for five victories on the night.

The track’s reigning dash-winning title-holder took the opener with favourite I Loved Her First (Bettors Delight). The mare, whom Borth guided to four straight wins last year, grinded first-over from three-eighths and got past Cheddar Rose (Jason Ryan) late for the impressive 2:00.2 victory. It was I Loved Her First’s seasonal debut and her eighth lifetime tally for trainer Mike Timpano and owners Wendy Timpano and Seaspray Stables.

I LOVED HER FIRST REPLAY

Borth returned to the winner’s circle six races later, taking the lines on Massive Profit (Muscle Massive). He sent his charge three-wide on the final turn, and the five-year-old rolled to the front to take his 13th career win in 2:02.2. William Hamm owns and trains the gelding.

MASSIVE PROFIT REPLAY

Woodmere Gaelic (Stonebridge Terror) made it a simple triple for Borth with a wire-to-wire performance in 2:00.1. The five-year-old Darryl Laver-trained gelding is now five-for-73 lifetime.

WOODMERE GAELIC REPLAY

Ms Chantalmachabay (Jk Endofanera) launched three-wide down the backside and charged to the lead on the final turn, drawing away by four-and-a-quarter-lengths to give Borth a grand slam. The mare had not earned a cheque in seven straight starts, all poor outings at Woodbine Mohawk Park, prompting trainer Dean Nixon to send her for her London debut. The four-year-old, owned by William Andrew and Jay Noye, has won six of 47 lifetime appearances.

MS CHANTALMACHABAY REPLAY

Borth completed the five-star performance with The Boss Man (Muscle Mass), who battled for the lead throughout in the 10th. The reinsman quarter-poled to the front with the gelding but then had to spar with the first-over Stella Alpha (Samuel Fillion) through the middle half. Arrakis emerged from the pocket coming down the lane, but The Boss Man held him off by three-quarters-of-a-length to win in 2:00.1. Stephen Bossence trains The Bossman, a five-year-old gelding with nine wins in 47 career tries, for Stephen Palermo.

THE BOSS MAN REPLAY

Borth is 17-for-77 so far on the year, winning at a 22 per cent clip. The reinsman reached 400 wins for the first time last year and doubled his career best total for earnings. He was named The Raceway’s Driver of the Year and took the drivers’ title in a landslide. He currently leads the 2024 standings by one win over Garrett Rooney.

The Raceway at the Western Fair holds its next card on Friday, Jan. 12. First post is set for 5:50 p.m. EST.
