Monticello, NY— Patrick Hanover (Father Patrick, Bruce Aldrich Jr) won the $6,500 harness racing Open trot at Monticello Raceway on Wednesday afternoon (Jan. 24).
Raceace (Alan Schwartz) took the early lead, followed by Patrick Hanover. Ackles Hanover (Jim Devaux) was racing in third as they came to the first quarter mile in :29. Raceace still led the way as they passed the half mile in :59.3.
Ackles Hanover moved to challenge Patrick Hanover for second from the outside as they approached the three-quarter mile in 1:30.1. As they made their way down the stretch, Patrick Hanover rushed from the inside to pass Raceace and snag the victory in 2:01.2.
Raceace got second and Chip Chip Conway (Jim Taggart Jr) came in third.

Patrick Hanover is a 5-year-old gelding owned by William Damberg and trained by Robert Lounsbury. He paid $22.80 to win.
Bruce Aldrich Jr got a driving double. Michael Merton got a driving grand slam.
