Fraser Downs announces change to meet start

Surrey, BC – The 2024 opening harness racing dates scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 1 and Friday, Feb. 2 at Fraser Downs have been pushed back a week. 

The recent extreme weather changes impacted the training regimen and the ability to properly condition the horses for the upcoming meet. 

The season is now scheduled to commence the following week on Thursday, Feb. 8 at 7 p.m. 

“We made the decision to postpone the start after realizing the effect the weather had on the schedule for the horses,” said Dawn Lupul, Manager  of Racing and Communication. “The weather has hampered training and unfortunately set everything  back. We wanted to make sure that everyone had the opportunity to be ready to go!” 

Racing will continue at Fraser Downs on Thursdays and Fridays at 7 pm Pacific / 10 pm Eastern through  April 26. Visit BC Racebook for more information.
