Monticello, NY— Chip Chip Conway (Conway Hall, Jim Taggart Jr) won the $6,500 harness racing Open trot at Monticello Raceway on Wednesday afternoon (Jan. 31).
Consus Victory (Kyle Dibenedetto) went for the early lead, but was quickly overcome by Chip Chip Conway from the outside. They passed the opening quarter in :29.3 with Chip Chip Conway on top by a length over Consus Victory. Meadowbranch Ricky (Thomas Merton) was racing in third. They were still in this position as they came to the half mile in :59.4.
Chip Chip Conway was holding on to the lead, with Consus Victory in second. From the outside, Ackles Hanover (Gregory Merton) moved into third as they reached the three-quarter mile in 1:29.3. From the far outside, Doo Wop Kid (Jim Devaux) moved into the two hole as they turned for home.
Chip Chip Conway crossed the wire first in 2:00. Doo Wop Kid came in second and Meadowbranch Ricky got third.

Chip Chip Conway is an 8-year-old gelding trained by Gary Messenger and owned and bred by Gary Messenger and Kenneth Weckstein. He paid $4.20 to win.
Jim Devaux and Jim Taggart Jr had driving doubles. Michael Merton had a driving triple.
