Harness Racing Victoria is saddened by the passing of former Chairman Trevor Craddock.

Mr Craddock headed up the Trotting Control Board from 1984-88, and also served as treasurer on the Inter Dominion Harness Racing Council and Australian Harness Racing Council in 1987-88.

HRV chairman Dale Monteith said Mr Craddock was a “highly respected racing industry administrator” who “served the harness racing industry very well”.

Mr Craddock turned 100 on September 17, with a race named in his honor at Melton on September 23 to celebrate his birthday.

He was a most popular Chairman and made many friends in the industry. He was also a founding member more than 60 years ago of the renowned galloping orientated Carbine Club and was still a member at the time of his passing.

Among his many achievements when involved with the club was when organised a special luncheon guest, The Prince of Wales, now of course King Charles III. While Chief Marketing Officer of the State Savings Bank in Victoria, he also secured a state visit by the Mickey Mouse Club Mouseketeers, and was a keen golfer and long-time member of Metropolitan Golf Club.

HRV sends its condolences to Mr Craddock’s family and friends and thanks him for his contribution to harness racing.
