Always Gonna B You gets second straight in Meadows feature

WASHINGTON, PA, Feb. 7, 2024  — Hammered down to 1-2, Always Gonna B You (Always A Virgin-Passing Fancy) looked every bit that dominant, rolling to her second straight victory in Wednesday’s (Feb. 7) harness racing feature at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows, a $12,100 Filly & Mare Conditioned Pace.

Always Gonna B You zipped to the lead from post 2 and clicked off a snappy 1:23.2 three-quarters for Aaron Merriman. Long shot Osceola Hanover attacked from the pocket in the lane but couldn’t get closer, as Always Gonna B You defeated her by a length in 1:52.1. Day To Party was a ground-saving third.

Bill Bercury trains the winner, a 5-year-old, who now boasts a lifetime bankroll of $439,043, for Renee Bercury. It was one of four wins for Merriman on the 13-race card.

Elsewhere on Wednesday’s card, The Gypsy Queen IR (Foreclosure N – Cannae Diamonds) extended her winning streak to seven with an easy front-end score for Ronnie Wrenn, Jr., trainer Michael Burke and owner Burke Racing Stable. The 6-year-old took an $11,800 Filly & Mare Starter Allowance in a career-best 1:51.1.
