Harness Analyst – Northfield 14th February pick five

Tonight’s harness racing action features a Pick 5 carryover of more than $4,000 at Northfield Park.

The sequence starts in race 6 which is scheduled to go at 7:50 p.m. The base wager is $1.

Here is my analysis and suggested Pick 5 ticket:

Race 6: 4

(4) CHEESEY GUY is one of only two winners in this field. He requalified well after getting hung out to dry here on January 16th. I will stand alone with him as a single in this opening leg.

Race 7: 3,4,7,8,9

This race looks wide-open to me and I’m going five deep:

(3) GET THE CASH gets class and post relief and I think he gets an aggressive steer from Luke Ebersole here.

(4) COLOR ME RED is in solid form and his good tactical speed makes him worth using at a price here.

(7) LIGHT BLUE MOVERS has Merriman in the bike, and he has already won 8 races on a card this week. He is hard to leave out in a wide-open race.

(8) SIERRAS SPIRIT has the best current form, winning 3 of 4 starts this year with a solid 2nd. His versatility makes him one that is hard to toss, even from post 8.

(9) UPFRONT STONE just won at this level, and he is another I will use here, even from the second tier.

Race 8: 1

(1) SISTER CHARLIE steps up off a win but she has Merriman and the rail, and she should be hard to beat here.

Race 9: 1,2,4,6,8

I’m going to be five-deep here, too, in a race where it looks like you can get a price.

(1) CANT TOUCH NASTY has speed and the rail and that often adds up to a win at this track.

(2) DAYLYN RYESON gets post relief and Merriman in the bike tonight. Sharp improvement is likely.

(4) CLAYTON COOPER is only 1 for 26 but he comes off a good effort in defeat and he is worth using at a price.

(6) BEACH WINNER will almost surely clear to the front here and he is a candidate to lead all the way at a price.

(8) WATCH YOUR SIX comes in off two strong efforts and he won’t get bet much from post 8. He could add some value to the ticket.

Race 10: 1,3

(1) DUDLEY moves from the worst post to the best one and he gets Merriman in the bike. He is a must-use for me here.

(3) MACKLE MOORE was a first up winner from this post two starts back and moving back inside makes him a threat tonight.
