Gamin Jaba wins Prix du Chesnay at Vincennes

The Jean Michel Bazire trained and reined Gamin Jaba (8g Kasaco Phedo-Otika Vita) took the Prix du Chesnay (purse 75,000€, 2850 meters, 15 starters ages 7-11) this day at Paris-Vincennes.

Off at 4.1/1 odds the winner recorded his 17th career victory in 66 starts and increased life earnings to 480,780€. Mme. Gilberte Bazire bred and owns the 1.11.8kr timed Gamin Jaba that overcame a 25-meter handicap. Finishing second was 11/1 Grace du Digeon (8f Seduisant Fouteau-Ancole de Largue) that also faced a 25-meter penalty with Eric Raffin driving for owner/trainer Charles Dreux. The 1.1/1 odds favorite Hubble du Vivier (7g Vulcain du Vivier-Minnie du Vivier-Defi d’Aunou) was third for trainer/driver Sebastien Ernault and breeder/owner Jean Yves Lecuyer.

On the same card was the Prix de Jallais (purse 35,000€, 2100 meters autostart, 12 European five-year olds). The 15/1 invader from Italy, Damaris Grif (5f Mack Grace SM-Ninotchka Dany), scored in a sharp 1.11.5kr for reinsman Marco Stefani. Mauro Baroncini trains the winner for Antonio Favilla that now has earnings of 66,614€ and now has a first win in France from two starts. Her sire Mack Grace SM was a winner of 1,707,176€ and is by the US Max Hempt bred CC’s Chuckie T (Malabar Man-Keystone Gild-Sierra Kosmos) from Ambro Grace SM. The Delaware based Crissman family raced this one to US$401,696 earned in the US. Damaris Grif bested the 9/10 favorite Destiny Effe (5f Bold Eagle-Sidney Effe) was second for trainer/driver Alessandro Gocciadoro and owne Mario Massaro. Third was 2.6/1 Donner Amour (5f Bold Eagle-Over The Moon LF-Ganymede) with JMB catch-driving for Salvatore Minopoli and A.A. Purlari Srl.

The Gr. III monte Prix d’Avenches (purse 80,000€, 2700 meters, 10 four-year old starters) was on stage this day as was the 68/1 odds winner was Kimco Barry (4m Un Amour d’Haufor-Black Star Berry) ridden by jockey Anthony Barrier for C.A. Mary the trainer for Santy Baptendier. This was Kimbo’s third win in 19 career starte for earnings of 127,430€. The 60/1 outsider Kheops de Fredlau (4m Timoko-Eric de Fredlau) was second for jockey Louis Jublot with third to 2.9/1 odds Kelly de Branville (4f Eridan) with jockey Paul Philippe Ploquin.  Race time was 1.14.8kr.
