Harley Gema (7f Bold Eagle-Reedite Gede-Buvetier d’Auniu) easily won today’s (Feb. 29) harness racing featured Prix Roger Ledoyen (purse 49,000€, 2925 meters distance handicap, 16 starters ages 6-11 years) at Cagnes sur Mer.
Off at 3.2/1 odds the winner was timed in 1.13.0kr and was driven by Bmienjan Rochard for owner/trainer Marc Sassier. Marie-Annick Sassier bred this mare that now has 10 career wins in 37 starts for 262,860€ earned. Her dam Reedite Gede was a favorite of mine. She won 490,280€ with a record of 1.11.4kr, from 19 wins in 52 career starts including four wins in her last six starts when trained by Thierry Duvaldestin, these including the Prix de Brest, Prix de Munich and Prix de Poitiers. The second dam, by Passionnant, earned over 268,000€.
Finishing second today was the 110/1 odds Gamble River (8m Un Mec d’Heripre) reined by Nils Pacha for trainer Kevyn Thonnerieux that was handicapped 25 meters. Third to the lime was 1.2/1 favorite ies We Kan (6m Carat Williams) with trainer Romain Derieux aboard. Two 25-meter handicapped trotters were fourth and fifth, the 30/1 Eberton and 64/1 Eolien de Chenu.
