Jody (Betterthancheddar) made every pole a winning one and was victorious in the Mares Open Handicap harness racing pace at Bally’s Dover on Wednesday night (Mar. 6).
Jody took on the elements leaving alertly from post 8 at the start of the race and grabbed the early lead. Tae retreated to the pocket. Even odds race favorite Incaseyoudidntlnow had the best view from last at the quarter pole.
Jody carved out fractions of 27.2 to the quarter. She continued on an uncontested lead to the half in 56.1, a 28.4 quarter. Southwind Icenfire moved 1st up down the backstretch. Disturbed Hanover followed 2nd over and Incaseyoudidntknow gapped cover, 3rd over on the rim.
Jody continued on a comfortable lead at the three quarters in 1:24.4, a 28.3 kicker. At the top of the stretch Incaseyoudidntknow gained momentum quickly, pacing four wide in the lane. Jody was able to hold off that late charge and won by a half-length in 1:52.4. She returned $10.20 for the win.

Penzance Hanover seeks to win his 4th consecutive race in the 12th race Blue Hen/ Open Handicap Pace. His main competition will come from a rested I Did It Myway, Mack and Pocono Downs shipper Maximus Miki. Post time at Bally’s Dover on Thursday is 4:30 pm.
