Outstanding four-year-old The Lost Storm (Captaintreacherous) commenced the long road to the TAB Eureka with an impressive harness racing win in the $50,000 City Of Melton Plate at Melton.Ā
Sent out a $1.40 favorite, The Lost Storm strode to the lead with 1600 metres to travel and Mark Pitt was able to dictate the terms of the race to suit himself in a 61.7 first half of the last mile.Ā
Pitt allowed The Lost Storm more rein down the back and the son of Captaintreacherous surged clear of his rivals to score by eight metres from Rakero Rebel with Perfect Class a metre away third in a mile rate of 1:56.3.Ā
Pitt said The Lost Storm clicked into top gear over the final 400 metres of the race.Ā

āHeās had a couple of trials which have topped him off, he did find it pretty easy to get to the front and got a good trip but it felt like we were going fast late,ā Pitt said.Ā
Pitt was happy with the way The Lost Storm settled during the race.Ā
āHeās a casual fellow and wants something up there to go with him but he travelled pretty well in the run and didnāt get too strong which is always a good thing, and heās hit the line as good as he could,ā he said.Ā
The Lost Storm was unplaced behind stable mate Encipher in the inaugural running of the TAB Eureka at Menangle and Pitt said the winner will be aimed at the slot race again this year.Ā
āHeās going to Wagga for the TAB Regional in about three weeksā time but heās actual main aim will be the TAB Eureka,ā he said.Ā
The lightly raced The Lost Storm has now won 12 of his 17 life time starts.Ā
