Marshall planning a Queensland raid with emerging star

Bach (Bettor’s Delight) is quickly emerging as a top-end harness racing talent here in his new home of Victoria and plans are being made for a tilt at Queensland’s winter carnival through the middle of the year.

The New Zealand import claimed his second victory from three starts on our shores when he overcame a difficult spot three back along the pegs to chase down the Kevin Von Duve-prepared Springfield Affair in last Saturday night’s Pryde’s EasiFeed Pace.

The result took the five-year-old’s record to 32 starts for 10 wins and over $100,000 in prizemoney.

Trainer Kyle Marshall is optimistic that Bach has a bright future ahead of him after back-to-back wins.

“He’s got to keep going forward to target those (Group 1’s), but he is on the right track,” Marshall said.

A trip to Queensland to target some of the Sunshine State’s biggest pacing features is the gelding’s long-term goal.

“We will head to Queensland, race him up there in the winter carnival in July, see how we go in those races and then go from there,” the Cranbourne-based Marshall said.

“He will have one or two more starts and then go for a two to three month freshen-up before the trip to Queensland.”

Bach will feature again in Saturday night’s Hygain Pace at Melton Entertainment Park.
