Harness Analyst – Northfield 19th March carryover pick five

Tonight’s (Mar. 19) harness racing action features a Pick 5 carryover of close to $5,000 at Northfield Park.

Remember, the takeout on this wager is a bettor-friendly 14%.  Here is a look at the sequence and hopefully a winning ticket.

Race 6: 1,2,5,7

(1) GOLDEN COMPASS steps up off a wire job and draws the rail and has the top driver. He’s hard to leave off this ticket.

(2) REAL MCCOY chased heavily favored Wild And Crazy Guy around the track last week which was mission impossible. He can get another pocket trip here and he is in with a decent shot.

(5) BAMBOO is in easier here and A Mac will put him into the race. If he clears, he might be gone on the lead.

(7) FASHION CHOCOLATE is another dropper that figures here in a race where it makes sense to spread.

Race 7: 4,5,7

(4) NATIVES FILOU is 0 for 9 this year but he was much better when he dropped to this level last week and he draws much better tonight. He will likely be the one to catch.

(5) Y S MATHIS BRO won last time he raced at this level, and he could provide some great Pick 5 value here with a 20 to 1 morning line quote.

(7) BUDDYTHEBOOKIE won at this level then he drew into the second tier. He has a better chance now with his nose back on the gate.

Race 8: 1,5

(1) BAIT A HOOK drew posts 6,7 or 8 in eight of his last 11 starts. The last time he drew the rail, he finished 2nd racing one class higher. He is sure to take advantage of his good draw tonight.

(5) EASILY AMUSED got stuck behind dead cover last week. He is sharp and capable, he just needs a better trip.

Race 9: 1

(1) FIST FIGHTER was an easy winner last time he raced at this class. I’ll excuse the break that he made in tight quarters last week. He will be my single here.

Race 10: 1,7

(1) GOVERNOR JK gains ground in the stretch every week and starting from the rail, he might make front and just keep improving his position here.

(7) SOME HAPPY PACER is another that is always gaining no matter the fractions. He is so consistent that he is hard to leave out.
