Branxholme harness racing trainer Nathan Williamson has two runners in tomorrow’s $110,000 Group One 2023 Pascoe the Jewellers Northern Oaks.
Flying Ellie (Art Major) gets the better draw of his two runners, slotting into barrier three with two noted leaders in Coastal Babe and All You Need Is Me inside of her. She’ll be handled by regular pilot Craig Ferguson.
“I’ll leave it up to Craig. He’s driven her in most of her races and will assess it as he sees it. She’s versatile enough. Ellie is underrated and is a horse that if she didn’t have to do too much work and they went really hard she’ll be one that’ll be sticking on,” Williamson said.
Williamson was pleased with her effort when she ran in a Ratings race last Friday – her first right handed run.
Ruby Roe (Captaintreacherous) made ground late in last week’s Ladyship Stakes and ran third behind a couple of smart types in All You Need Is Me and Duchess Megxit.
“I was really pleased with the way she went. She’s a lovely big filly who seems to have thrived on the trip too. I would have loved to have drawn in a more striking position to drop onto the back of All You Need Is Me because Ruby does have plenty of speed. She showed at Winton that she certainly can finished her races off strongly. It is going to make it difficult with Cran’s filly drawing so well.”
Tomorrow night’s fillies feature gets underway at 7:59pm and will be televised on Trackside One.
