Harness racing trainer Sixto Rivas has received a one year suspension and $5,000 fine as he had three horses come up positive for the Class I drug, Nethylnicotinamide (a metabolite of nikethamide).
Rivas had three horses come up positive for the same drug on December 8, 2023 at Harrah’s Hoosier Park. A split sample for each horse was sent to an independent lab and has come back positive in all three samples.
It is not known yet if Rivas is appealing the decision or requesting a stay.
