Premier Delight (Bettors Delight) came through as the longest shot on the board in the harness racing Fillies and Mares Preferred Pace at The Raceway at the Western Fair District on Tuesday (Mar. 26).
Jeff Hunt placed the mare third on the pylons as Major League N (Ed Hensley) led to the quarter in :28.1. Premier Delight moved out onto the back of the first-over So Frisky (Colin Kelly) going to the half in :57.4.
Premier Delight remained second-over through three-quarters in 1:26.1 and swung off the helmet entering the stretch. She motored past the top three coming down the lane and emerged a length in front in 1:57 for the 18-1 upset.
So Frisky edged out Major League N for place.
PREMIER DELIGHT REPLAY
Premier Delight was 0-for-7 to begin the year but got off the mark last week in a conditioned race. Hunt trains the mare and co-owns her with his father Pat Hunt and Miguel Freitas. The four-year-old has won seven of 39 career starts and has earned $64,616.
Racing continues on Wednesday, Mar. 26 at The Raceway at the Western Fair District with 11 races.
