Horchestro (7g Sam Bourbon-Alisma du Corta-Love You) rallied down the far outside to capture today’s (March 27) second leg of the Grand National du Trot (Gr. III, purse 90,000€, 3000 meters distance handicap, 16 starters ages 5-10) at Marseille a Borely in France.
The harness racing winner was off at 9/1 odds and overcame a 25-meter handicap to win for the 14th time in his 53-race career. David Bekaert reined the G.R. Huguet trainee for owner Gerald Dambach. This Jean Pierre Dubois bred veteran now has 404,340€ earned.
Finishing second was 1.9/1 Ibiscus Man (6g Booster Winner-Cathy Woman) piloted by trainer Romain Charles Larue for owner Daniel Larue. The 4.5/1 odds Illusion Jiped (6f Boccador de Simm) was third handled by Eric Raffin for owner/trainer Pascal Lelievre.
Gege Baroque (8g Boccador de Simm) at 13/1 and 98/1 Franklin Park (9g Prince Gede) completed the top five. Ias We Kan set an early pace and ended a miscue dq while well-regarded Floreal, Eberton and Eden Basque were unplace albeit these were distance handicapped.
