The Victorian Government has appointed new member Dennis Bice to Harness Racing Victoria’s board and reappointed Adam Kilgour.
Bice brings a wealth of industry experience, including eight years as an executive at the Victorian Harness Racing Club and six years as president of the Bendigo Harness Racing Club.
Kilgour will serve as chair for an initial period of six months and his reappointment will ensure vital leadership and continuity for the HRV board, on which he has served as a member since 2017.
Kilgour will take the reins from outgoing chair Dale Monteith, who had been in that role for close to a decade.
Monteith oversaw the board during a period of significant change for the industry, including the adoption of a national ratings system, the racing season’s change to a calendar year and the negotiation of new funding arrangements following the end of the current wagering licence.
Minister for Racing Anthony Carbines congratulated Bice and Kilgour on their appointments and paid tribute to Monteith’s contribution.
“(Dennis and Adam’s) combined wealth of experience in the industry will help to strengthen Harness Racing Victoria’s board,” he said.
“I thank outgoing chair Dale Monteith for his many years of tireless service to Victorian harness racing during a pivotal transition period for the industry – he will be missed.”
Bice has recently served as chief executive officer of Bendigo Stadium Limited since 2021, overseeing the region’s premier sports and entertainment complex.
Prior to that he was chief executive officer of organisation Be.Bendigo, building public awareness of Bendigo’s vibrant local business community. He is also the owner operator of breeding operation Yorkshire Park.
Bice and Kilgour will each serve two-year terms on the board of HRV. The Minister for Racing Anthony Carbines said he intended to announce further appointments in the coming months.
