Heats of the $50,000 Group Three Mildura Cup were held last night (April 2nd) and a Nutrien Sale graduate in Dangerous (Sweet Lou) was an impressive winner of the first heat for trainer Shane Sanderson and driver Abby Sanderson.
The final will be held this Saturday, April 6th, and the vendors of Lot 183 in the following week’s Nutrien Melbourne yearling sale will be watching the Mildura Cup with more than a passing interest.
Lot 183 is being offered by Harshell Investments Pty Ltd and is a filly by Art Major from the winning Presidential Ball mare Ark Monroe which makes her a half-sister to Dangerous.
Now a 4yo, Dangerous was runner-up in both the 2yo and 3yo Nutrien Sales Classics and last nightās win was his eighth and lifted his earnings to $124,251.
More importantly, Lot 183 is a full-sister to current smart 3yo Dee Roe which won at Bendigo on 17th January and has subsequently finished second in the $50,000 Group Three Caduceus 3yo Classic at Melton and the $50,000 Group Three R C Simpson Memorial at Menangle on 17th February.
Ark Monroe, the dam of Lot 183 won 14 races and $78,353 and Dangerous and Dee Roe are just two of the four winners she has left from her five foals of racing age.
Her best earner to date is the Somebeachsomewhere filly Eleniark which won the Queensland Triad final as a 4yo before being sold to the USA where she has taken a record of 1:51.8 and increased her earnings to $203,855.
There are 20 individual $100,000 earners bred on the cross of Art Major over a Presidential Ball mare including the Group One 2yo New Zealand Sires Stakes filly winner Onlyforyou which retired to stud with earnings of $365,459.
Benstud Victoria are preparing Lot 183 and they can be contacted on 0429 950 055 to arranged a pre-sale inspection.
