Mellby Jinx wins Nuncios Trot at Solvalla

Mellby Jinx (5g Ready Cash-Heavens Door-Muscle Hill) easily captured this day’s (April 3) Nuncios Trot (purse to winner 100,000SEK or 8,600€, 2140 meters autostart, 10 starters) at Solvalla Racecourse in Sweden.

Timed in 1.11.8kr the Bjorn Goop driven trotter is trained by Daniel Wajersten for Mellby Gard AB, also the breeder. This is his first 2024 victory in two starts. He was off at 2.75/1 odds, the second favorite.

Second home was 29/1 odds Milliondollarrhyme (10g Ready Cash-Nursery Rhyme-Credit Winner) reined by trainer Fredrik B. Larsson. The 2.63/1 odds favorite Don Fanucci Zet (8m Hard Livin-Kissed By The West-Western Terror) closed well on the outside to be third with Orjan Kihlstrom driving for trainer Daniel Reden in his first 2024 start. He made only five starts last year with one victory. Staring from post eight he raced from the back but did not show form needed to be an Elite Race contender. He was timed in 1.12.2kr today. Another start will be needed.

In an earlier race for mares named for Courant AB (purse to winner 80,000€, 1640 meters autostart, 12 starters) the 3.8/1 Mercedes Hall (6f Uncle Lasse-Marion Hall-Lindy Lane) scored in 1.12.6kr with Magnus A. Djuse aboard for Mattias Djuse.

The 12.4/1 odds Kelly Smartface (4f Captain Sparrow-Olympia Face-Viking Kronos) was second for Orjan Kihlstrom and Roger Walmann. Third was 9.4/1 Whoopsy Laday (4f Tobin Kronos-Harris Street Hall-Conway Hall) on his first ’24 start with Christian Lind driving for his father Stefan Lind, developer of the great US mare Celebrity Eventsy.
