Outlaw Sharktastic (Smart Shark) went wire-to-wire as the second-longest shot on the board in the Fillies and Mares Preferred at Century Downs on Friday (Apr. 5).
She made front from post six for Nathan Sobey and dictated the first-half panels of :29.1 and :58. If Only Id Known (David Kelly) brought first-over pressure to three-quarters in 1:26.4, but Outlaw Sharktastic held her at bay coming down the lane. The leader also neutralized pocket-sitter Jakara (Brandon Campbell) and reached home up by two lengths in 1:55.3. Jakara finished second over If Only Id Known.

Outlaw Sharktasticās win was her 12th lifetime in 88 career starts. Sobey trains the mare who has now earned $129,774. He co-owns the six-year-old with Glenda Winkleman of Edmonton and Glenn Pinel of Calgary.
Campbell won three of the nightās seven races.
