Unbeaten Cardenas Baba sets stakes record

Cardenas Baba (6f From Above-Ulan Bator Baba-Love You) handled by trainer Goran Zolnaji and off at 2.1/1 odds, took today’s (April 13) Pulay Kornel Memorial (purse 1.500,000Huf, 1900 meters autostart, eight starters) in a stakes record 1.13.8kr at Kincsem Park (Budapest).

The winner is unbeaten in two 2024 starts after winning five times in 12 starts last year. The winning time eclipsed the previous record 1.14.1kr set in 2022 by Gomez reined by Csaba Lakatos. Finishing second was 5.6/1 odds Catania R (6g One Too Many-Campala RAL-Toss Out) with Marko Slavic driving. Third to the line was Bonaparte Boss (7g Napoleon-Nikita-Crown Sweep) with trainer Veljko Mazsity at the lines and off at 2,8/1. Unnoi del Duomo (11m Ganymede-Irma del Duomo-Lemon Dra) driven by Sandor Kolozsi for trainer Goran Zolnaji.

On the undercard the 7.5/1 odds Denalda Op (5f Ringostarr Treb-Ostia Antica-Ganymede) won the Underpaid Hanover DIJ (purse 600,000€, 1900 meters) I record time 1.13.4kr, Joze Sagaj teamed the winner for owner Osterc and trainer Zvonko Osterc of SLO.

This was her first victory in two starts in HU following a victory in Ljutomer over 2100 meters. Premal MS (6g Dream Vacation) was second at 4.2/1 odds with Marko Slavic driving for trainer Pal Vicen. Third was 2.9/1 Coach Degli Dei (6f Brillantissime-Un Foi Axe-Love You) with trainer Goran Zolnaji driving.

The Milliondollar Lux Handicap (purse 500,000Huf, 1800 meters autostart) saw Kings Call (11g SJ’s Photo-Merlina Eme-Adams Hall) scored in 1.17.2kr. Imre Fazekas teamed the Gabor Reischl trainee this his Aquadrom owns. This was Kings Call’s first 2024 start and his 10^th career victory. Ann Bella M (8f Cigar Dan) was second at 6.4/1 for Lajos Bordacs and third home was 3.7/1 Cherie Bella M (6f Cigar Dan) reined by Marko Slavic.
