Harness Analyst – Northfield Park 23rd April carryover pick four

Tonight’s harness racing action features a nice Pick 4 carryover of close to $20,819 at Northfield Park.

Let’s take a look at the sequence and see if we can put together a winning ticket.

Race 2: 3

You hate to use the same single as everyone else to kick off a Pick 4, but undefeated gelding (3) MARIO SPEEDWAGON stands out here and he will likely jog again. The only possibility that I see where he gets beat is if he breaks stride, and he has been sure gaited to date.

Race 3: 3,4,5,6,9

This is a race where it makes sense to spread and hope to get a price. (3) GOHOMEJOE ships in sharp from Miami Valley and he looks like the one to beat, but he is certainly no lock coming in with a 1 for 14 record. (4) CRUISER THE KID raced okay in his first start of the year and Merriman takes the return drive. I can see him getting more aggressive in this second start back. (5) WESTERN BB made a nice wide move in the back half in his seasonal debut. He is a threat getting post relief tonight. (6) RIO faced better in his sophomore debut, and he took a mark of 1:52.1 at two. He could be the bomb that makes this ticket. (9) TAKE BACK AMERICA shipped in from Indiana and jogged with Angus in the bike. He is another possibility in a race with several options.

Race 4: 1,2,9

(1) JOHNNYREDS VICTORY raced well coming back off a brief rest and he gets maximum post relief tonight. He is hard to go past when looking for Pick 4 contenders. (2) DONTYOUSAYIT just jogged at this level as the 4 to 5 favorite two starts back and he is an obvious contender here. (9) FIST FIGHTER has won a third of his starts this year and he faces easier here. He could get a great following trip and he is the third one that I’ll use in this third leg of the Pick 4.

Race 5: 3,4,7

(3) BAR DOWN JIM absolutely jogged here at this level on 4/9, dominating most of tonight’s field then. But he shows a break at The Meadows four days later, so I will use a couple of others here. (4) IRON CAT has won three of his last five starts and he gets aggressive driver Davis Jr. tonight who will likely fire him off the gate. He could end up in the choice’s pocket and that makes him a threat. (7) WATCH YOUR SIX comes off a nice win at this level and he is another that has gate speed that merits a look, especially at 15 to 1 in the morning line.
