Another series final to Rose Run Zane

Not only did Rose Run Zane (Racing Hill) notch his fourth straight harness racing win Thursday (April 25) at Miami Valley Raceway, but it was also the second series final that the three-year-old has captured this month.

It was just two starts back on April 11 that Rose Run Zane and regular driver Austin Hanners won the $35,000 final of the George Williams Memorial and on Thursday at Miami Valley it was the $50,000 final of the James K. Hackett Memorial.

Starting from post six in the 8^th race feature, Rose Run Zane left from post six and allowed Janelle Granny (Brett Miller) to take the early lead at the opening quarter mile in :27.1 before quarter moving to take command.

Leading to the half mile in :56.1, Rose Run Zane held the field at bay as Dragons R Fearless (Trace Tetrick) started up first-over in fifth place with Midwind Beach Boy (Dan Noble) second-over.

In the backstretch, Dragons R Fearless moved up to second place on the outside at the three-quarters in 1:24.1, but could not collar pacesetter Rose Run Zane. By the top of the stretch Rose Run Zane and Hanners were well in-hand, winning by one and one-quarter lengths over the pocket-sitting Janelle Granny with Seaside Delight (Kayne Kauffman) third in 1:51.1.

ROSE RUN ZANE REPLAY

It was the fourth win in six starts this year for Rose Run Zane and a lifetime mark. She is trained by Dan Venier for co-owners John Saunders and Leann Saunders, paying $4.80 to win.

Carbine (Somebeachsomewhere) made it a feature double for driver Austin Hanners as they led from start to finish in the 9^th race $34,000 Open Handicap Pace.

Scoring for the sixth time this season, Carbine won in a romp by three and three-quarter lengths in 1:49.1. The six-year-old stallion is trained by Virgil Morgan, Jr. for Odds On Racing and paid $3.40 to win.
