Alexa Skye soars to victory in Miami Valley feature

Alexa Skye (Somebeachsomewhere, Trace Tetrick) won the $34,000 Fillies and Mares Open harness racing pace at Miami Valley Raceway on Sunday (April 28).

Alexa Skye went for the early lead, followed by Ainthesamewithoutu (Tony Hall). Ocean Music (Dan Noble) was racing in third as they reached the opening quarter mile in :26.4. Alexa Skye still led the way at the half mile in :54.4.

From the outside, Anthem (Tyler Smith) moved to challenge Ainthesamewithoutu for second. They passed the three-quarter mile in 1:22. As they came to the wire, Ainthesamewithoutu was closing in from the inside, but Alexa Skye got the victory in 1:50.4. Racing For Three (Trevor Smith) finished in third.

Alexa Skye is a 7-year-old mare trained by Virgil Morgan Jr for owners Let It Ride Stables Inc and Odds On Racing. She paid $4.00 to win.
