GEOCENTRIC TO QUALIFY TUESDAY

Geocentric, harness racing’s top 2YO pacing filly last season, is set to make an appearance at The Meadows tomorrow (Tuesday, April 30).  She is entered in the 5th qualifying race for trainer Brian Brown, with Tim Tetrick listed to drive.  Qualifiers begin at 11AM, and can be seen live on the Meadows Standardbred Owners Association Facebook page.

STAKE RACING SEASON BEGINS SATURDAY

The first stake races of the 2024 season will take place this Saturday, May 4.  Three-year-old colt and gelding pacers will be in action in PA Sire Stake and PA Stallion Series events.  Saturday’s card will have a special early post time, 11:30AM.  The post position draw for Saturday will take place this Wednesday morning.

TWO MILESTONES REACHED

Hollywood Casino at The Meadows would like to congratulate two of our regular drivers, Hunter Myers and Ronnie Wrenn, on recent milestone wins.  Hunter Myers was honored this past Wednesday for reaching 2,000 career wins.  He earned win #2,000 in Ohio a few days earlier.  Ronnie Wrenn Jr won his 8000th career race on Friday afternoon at The Meadows with The Last Song for trainer Jack Smith.

TOP MARES FEATURED ON WEDNESDAY

The Wednesday afternoon feature this week will be a tough Open pace for mares, carrying a purse of $21,200.  Marloe Hanover, out of the Virgil Morgan barn, will be back in town to defend her title from last week with driver Dave Palone.  The Randy Bendis-trained Lydeo, a second place finisher last week is also back, along with Bill Bercury’s Always Gonna B You, last week’s third place finisher.

The rest of the field, however, is new.  Waitforever, trained by Bill Rhoades, will see Justin Irvine getting his first Meadows drive.  Racin Hungry, making her first start as a 4YO, is in from New Jersey for trainer Jennifer Bongiorno.  Beach Cowgirl, trained by Ron Burke, joins the field from NJ, while Think Of Galaxies, a Cory Kreiser-trainee, is up in class after winning last week in her Meadows return.  The other newcomer is Rockin Bambi, marking trainer Craig Stein’s first Meadows start in many years.  The Open Mares Pace is slated as Race 6 on the Wednesday card.
