Bet N Win (What The Hill) showed he is right on track for his upcoming Australian harness racing campaign with his dominant win in the $40,000 Listed NZB Standardbred Uncut Gems Trotters Classic (2600m) at Addington on Friday night.
The NZB Standardbred graduate turned the black type feature into a one-act affair with his strong front-running win for trainers David and Stacey White and driver Bob Butt.
Bet N Win was purchased by David White for $32,500 when the squaregaiter was offered by breeder-vendors Breckon Farms at the 2021 National Yearling Sales at Karaka.
The trotter started a hot favourite in Friday nightās feature following his last start win in the Listed Sires Stakes Aged Classic (2600m) at Addington.
After producing strong work since, there was plenty of confidence in the White camp that Bet N Win could make it back to back black-type wins.
āHis work since his last run was exceptional really,ā David White told Harness Racing Unhinged.
āWe were fairly confident in how he would go, but they have still got to come out and do it.ā
Bet N Winās Uncut Gems win came just a matter of days following the announcement the trotter had been invited to contest the Group One Great Square Trot (2138m) at the upcoming Queensland Winter Carnival.
The White stable canāt wait to head across the Tasman and take on the feature event.
āWe are really looking forward to that and it looks a perfect race for him,ā White said.
Bet N Win made a smart beginning from his 10m handicap in Friday nightās feature.
In an instant, the trotter was outside the leader before soon pressing onto the lead.
Butt set a strong pace with Bet N Win, with the trotter speeding home in a sharp 56.6sec final 800m split before registering a 3.15.3 winning time.
āHe is a good horse on the rise, that was a good trot tonight ā 3.15,ā Butt said.
