Harness News Update: Picks & Analysis for Rideau Carleton May 9th

Thursday (May 9) afternoon harness racing returns to Rideau Carleton Raceway this week and they kick off with a 10-dash card. The Pick 5 wager starts in the sixth race and runs through to the tenth.

One of the hottest horses at Rideau Carleton Raceway, Allstar Cheddar (Betterthancheddar), draws into the fifth race. He has won three of his four starts this year and only fell to second place in his other start. His last win was on May 2 and he paced the mile in 1:55. His lifetime mark is only one-fifth of a second faster which he achieved last year. The four-year-old gelding is trained by Mandy Archer and Guy Gagnon will be in the sulky.

ALLSTAR CHEDDAR REPLAY

Allstar Cheddar’s biggest competition in the race is Telllaurailoveher (All Bets Off) and he will draw the rail. The Andre Lechance-trained gelding has only won a start this year but he booked a trip to the winner’s circle in 1:54.3. He went winless in three starts last year but was able to rally for a second place at Woodbine Mohawk Park. Pascal Berube has been given driving duties.
