Rain and a track labeled good with a two-second allowance greeted the Saturday (May 10) harness racing qualifying races at The Meadowlands.
The 10th and final race of the morning saw Dan Patch award winner and world champion Bythemissal (Downbytheseaside) and driver Yannick Gingras sit a two-hole trip behind pacesetter Allwag Hanover (Todd McCarth) and beat them in the stretch by three-quarters of a length in 1:51.2, last quarter in :26.3. Bythemissal is trained by Ron Burke.

In the very first race for three-year-old pacing fillies, Breeders Crown winner last season, My Girl EJ, was beaten for the second straight week, losing by just a neck to Miraculous Deo (Stay Hungry) in 1:53.1 with pacesetter Watching You a half-length back in third. Miraculous Deo is trained by Noel Daley for owner-breeder Deo Volente Farms.

Former Hambletonian winner Cool Papa Bell (Chapter Seven) won a two-horse qualifier for driver Todd McCarthy, sitting a two-hole trip en route to a 1:55 triumph (last quarter :27.4) for trainer Jim Campbell and the Runthetable Stables.

Dan Patch award winner Captain Albano (Captaintreacherous) found his winning form again, coming from off the pace to take his qualifying race in 1:52.3, the last quarter in :25.3 for driver Todd McCarthy and trainer Noel Daley.
