EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – Todd McCarthy passed a major harness racing milestone by winning his 1,000th career race in North America after guiding Lazarus N gelding Endofstory to victory in the 10th race Saturday night at The Meadowlands.
“It’s honestly been a dream come true,” said McCarthy. “It’s a pretty special moment for me. It’s hard to find one moment that stands out. I’ve had some nice horses. Winning the [2022] Hambletonian [with Cool Papa Bell] was surreal.”
ENDOFSTORY/TODD MCCARTHY MILESTONE REPLAY
McCarthy, a young star in Australia, arrived in the United States in 2020 and quickly cemented himself among the sport’s elite. His 1,000th North America win came in just under 6,600 starts, giving the reinsman a 15 per cent win rate since the move.
It was another big Saturday overall for the dynamic driving brother duo of Todd and Andy McCarthy, as one week after each recorded four Saturday scores, they combined for seven victories this time, with Andy taking four and Todd three.
