CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – The battle of the Stallions resumes Saturday evening as Twin B Tuffenuff (Sweet Lou) tries to even the score in the Preferred Pace at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The capital oval will field 11-dashes starting at 6 P.M. on Saturday evening.
Race 10 is the $3,800 Preferred class with Twin B Tuffenuff the morning line favourite from post 2 with Gilles Barrieau in the bike for trainer Ron Matheson and owner Pat Morris of Charlottetown. The winner of $705,000 is standing his first season at stud in 2024 after racing the winter months in the U.S.
His 2024 P.E.I. debut was a narrow second place finish to stablemate Blood Money, who leaves from post 3 on Saturday. Marc Campbell drives the Matheson trainee for owner Dr. Mitchell Downey as the stallion looks for win number 28 of his career while also being on the roster of the Atlantic Sires Stakes stallion directory.
Burn Out Hanover (To be driven by Brady Sweet) has post 1 after an open-length victory in his latest start.
Rollwithhottytoddy (Myles Heffernan Sr.) was the dominant pacer in Charlottetown in January and has post 4 Saturday while Spectrum Seelster (David Dowling) has post 5 after a third-place finish at this level last week.
The Post Time Picks like Twin B Tuffenuff.
“Twin B Tuffenuff was driven conservatively from an outside post in his spring meet debut and it cost him the win. He has the inside edge this week with post two so I’m betting that Barrieau points him to the front, and they lead gate-to-wire.”
Ashes To Ashes (Barrieau) is favoured in the race 11 finale, which also features the Super Hi-5. Matheson trains the 10-year-old son of Driven To Win who leaves from post 4 this week. His top rivals are post 1 entry Leavin Bruises (Damian MacLellan) and Afair Somewhere (Adam Merner).
All Bets On Tex touches down in Summerside
SUMMERSIDE, PE – All Bets On Tex (All Bets Off) will take on the Victoria Day top class on the opening day of the 2024 racing season at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
The Prince County oval has a 10-dash presentation for opening day with a special Victoria Day Holiday program starting at 1 P.M., on Monday afternoon.
The race 9 top class garners a $3,600 purse with All Bets On Tex shipping in from Ontario to join the Jeff Lilley stable. The four-year-old put together four wins and $48,495 in earnings so far in 2024 while racing across Ontario. His latest start was a fifth-place finish at Flamboro Downs while being race timed in 1:53 in a dash won by previous Gold Cup and Saucer champion Smooth Lou.
Winsloe native Tyler Moore handled the training and driving duties of All Bets On Tex in Ontario while Adam Merner will step into the race bike for his Monday contest from post 4 for owners Kent Livingston, Blair MacLauchlan, Marc Gallant and Lilley.
Middleton Terror (To be driven by David Dowling) has rail control with Coasttocoastshark (Jaycob Sweet) holding down post 2. Saulble Attack (Brady Sweet) will leave from post 3 with Melody Maker (Corey MacPherson) rounding out the field with post 5.
The Backstretch Beat sides with All Bets On Tex for the win.
“All Bets On Tex has been a four-time winner this season including a 1:51.4 lifetime best. Then just paced in 1:53 flat over Flamboro in a race won by a former Gold Cup and Saucer Champion. There is no denying him in here as he looks forward to the Summer Invitational circuit.”
The $2,850 back-up class hits the track in race 7 with Mr Kelly looking for his third straight from the Melissa Rennie barn with Merner at the lines. Marsha Knox, Cory Livingston and Kevin Teasdale share ownership of the seven-year-old Rollwithitharry gelding who has post 2 on the starting gate Monday. Other top entries in race 7 include Frontier Cruise (Brady Sweet) and Howmac Maximus (Damian MacLellan).
The Ise Pick 5 kicks off the program with a new $2000 guarantee pool beginning on race 1 followed by two Super Hi5’s and a late Pik4. PEI Players will now be included in the HPI Rewards program this season. Customers will also enjoy complimentary culinary delights, BOGO’s and a chance to win Governor’s Plate merchandise.
