The Aussie trotter Just Believe (Orlando Vici) affectionally known as ‘Harry’ reinforced his champion status when he continued on his winning kiwi way by outclassing six harness racing rivals in the $200,000 Group One Reharvest Rowe Cup.
Once the tapes were released driver Greg Sugars settled the Jess Tubbs trained Just Believe into a nice rhythm before taking him to the top.
At the end of the 3200 metre trip he demonstrated all his qualities, easily beating Oscar Bonavena by a length and a half.
“What a superstar. It’s been an unbelievable night,” Sugars said. “If at any time any doubt creeps into your mind he seems to come out and go better. He’s a fantastic horse and it’ll be a long time if ever, that I come across one like this.”
JUST BELIEVE REPLAY
In winning tonight’s pacing and trotting features, Sugars became the first driver in recent times to win the Auckland Cup and the Rowe Cup double.
This season Just Believe has won five of his Australian starts and all four of his New Zealand appearances and has banked over a $1 million.
“He’s such a special horse who’s opened doorways for Jess and I and given us experiences you can only dream about.”
