Two weeks after his first loss of the year, Logan Park (Archangel) recaptured the Woodbine Mohawk Park overnight harness racing trotting crown on Monday (May 27) as he won the $36,000 Preferred-Handicap.

In rein to Doug McNair, the gelding ranged forward from post seven and secured the lead rounding the first turn. The first quarter went in :27.2, and Logan Park fronted the field unopposed to the half in :55.4.

There was action in the backfield heading toward the final turn but no challengers for the leader, who reached three-quarters in 1:24.3. Logan Park hit the gas as he straightened for home and kicked clear by three lengths before cruising home to win by two-and-a-quarter in 1:52.4.

Mrmayor Hanover (Jody Jamieson) rode a pocket trip to a place finish. Looks Like Moni (James MacDonald) got up for show in a three-across finish.

LOGAN PARK REPLAY

Logan Park is now two-for-three in 2024 for trainer Kyle Fellows and owners Outofthepark Stable of Rockwood, Reg Higgs of Ilderton, and Arpad Szabo of Bradford. The gelding won 11 of 15 starts in the Woodbine Mohawk Park top class last season en route to divisional O’Brien Award honours. The six-year-old has won 26 of 67 career starts and has earned $1,114,192.

Trainer Carm Auciello tripled on the card. He won with Thatll Be Tiger (Tigerama, Sylvain Filion, 1:50.1) first off the claim, Points North (Somebeachsomewhere, Jonathan Drury, 1:51), and Rock And Twist (Sunshine Beach, Louis-Philippe Roy, 1:51.3). The conditioner is 42-for-415 on the season.
