With a :27.4 last quarter mile, Silk Cloud A (Shadow Play) and harness racing driver Jordan Stratton was able to outkick three rivals in the stretch to win the $35,000 Fillies & Mares Invitational Pace Friday (May 31) at Yonkers Raceway.
The 2nd race feature started with Coachellabound N (Jason Barlett) outdueling Majorca N (George Brennan) to the opening quarter mile in :27.2.
Coachellabound N led the field to the half mile in :55.4 with Karma Seelster (Austin Siegelman) starting to come up first-over from fifth place. Picking up that live cover in the backstretch was the race favorite, Silk Cloud A.
By the three-quarters in 1:23.2, Karma Seelster was gaining on pacesetter Coachellabound N while Majorca N was trapped in the two-hole.
Coming down the stretch it became a four-horse race to the finish and fastest of all was Silk Cloud A, who narrowly defeated Karma Seelster by a neck in 1:51.4. Coachellabound N was third.
