SUMMERSIDE, PE – Leading at every call, Island Beach Boy (Somebeachsomewhere) opened up on his harness racing rivals to win the Tuesday evening (June 11) feature at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
Brodie MacPhee supplied the winning steer in the $3,500 top event as Island Beach Boy cruised to the lead from post 5 and laid down fractions of 28, 58, 1:26.1 and 1:54.2. Howmac Maximus (Driven by Damian MacLellan) was three-lengths back in second while Coasttocoastshark (Jaycob Sweet) was third. Tom Weatherbie trains Island Beach Boy for owners Ian Smith and Arnold Hagen.
The Corey MacPherson show dominated the front end of the program as the Cornwall reinsman won the first four races with Howmac Charmer (1:56.2) for trainer Kyle Williams, Miss Wicked (1:57.2) from the Joe Baxter barn, Mr William (2:00.1) for trainer Blaine McKenna and with the Paul Bernard owned and trained Tobins Hottie (1:58.2).
Think Again (Art Major) and driver David Dowling rolled out an upset victory as he delivered in race 8 at 23-1 odds for owner-trainer Donald Sweet of O’Leary. The 12-year-old Art Major gelding was on top of a $1,330.90 triactor.
Dowling tripled on the 13-dash program driving winners Littlestitious (2:01.3) for trainer Donald Milligan and Redland Misspretty (1:56.3) in the finale from the Williams stable.
Machbook Pro delivered another upset in race 6 as Zach Conway drove the Paul Conway trainee to a 2:01.4 victory paying $59.70 to win.
