Burgeoning Indiana pacing sire, Capt Midnight continued the hot start to his harness racing stud career on Tuesday with more impressive results in the Hoosier State.
Back at Converse Fairgrounds, the scene of his maiden siring successes, the progeny of the son of Captaintreacherous found a third individual winner in the form of Miss Graceland.
The Larry King-trained filly found rapid improvement from a debut fourth where she was beaten over 12 lengths a week ago after an early mistake in the maiden divisions of the Indiana Sired Fair Circuit.
On a much nicer afternoon in the small town of Indiana, Miss Graceland bought her best behaviour to the track and churned out a 2:02 mile rate en route to a resounding four-and-a-half length victory.
Not even the widest gate of seven was a deterrent and after being allowed to find her feet early by reinsman Donald Coy, the pair soon strode up and took over proceedings and dominated the rest of the race from the top.
Premier Mayflower and Roll On Midnite, last weekās winning progeny were also back in action and put up tidy performances to finish second in their respective divisions of the Fair Circuit Series.
On the same day under slightly different circumstances, the Jamie Macomber trained Capt Midnight filly Loveyoucookie became his fastest performer to date with a 2:00.4 qualifying victory on the big Hoosier Park track.
The first foal from the 3,1:53 Rockin Image mare, Bluebird Love unfurled an impressive 27.1 last quarter to keep the rest of her opposition at bay and score by half a length at the finish.
Capt Midnight is currently second in the juvenile siring ranks for number of starters with 24 of his 87 eligible to race having made public appearances, which represents more than a quarter (27.5%) of his first crop not even half way into June!
His $24,491 in progeny earnings ranks fourth at this early stage, while his full brother Captain Trevor is not far behind him in eighth on the 2yo list.
